Google Improves AdSense Reporting And Bolsters Smart Pricing With New Research

Google has introduced several new reporting improvements for AdSense publishers, and it has released new research that shows publishers make more money with “smart pricing” — even though their revenue-per-click is discounted as compared with search ads — than they would without it.

One reporting improvement is that AdSense publishers can now view “all time” stats, meaning they can view all earnings, impressions, and clicks ever accrued over the life of the account. This is a feature that existed in the previous AdSense interface, and it’s now been brought back.

Google has also made reporting information easier to access. Within the My Ads tab, each specific line item will have a “View report” link — users just need to click through to see performance data for that particular ad unit or channel.

The exporting of reports now is customized based on the publisher’s language preference, with numbers now being shown in the manner that’s customary in that language. A dollar amount written as $1,000.00 in the US or UK would be written as $1.000,00 in most of Europe and South America. Previously only the US or UK version was available for downloading.

AdSense publishers also got another treat from Google this week, in the form of research that shows that “smart pricing” really is better for publishers, as well as advertisers. Though “smart pricing” typically discounts advertisers’ bids for the Google Content Network — because content sites usually perform worse, in terms of conversions, than ads on search results pages — the research contends that it’s really better for publishers in the end. Because advertisers are getting greater value overall, they’re more likely to bid higher overall, creating revenue for Google and the publisher.

“The main implication of this analysis is good news for networks and publishers alike — under reasonable conditions Smart Pricing, and its non-Google analogs, can significantly grow the pie,” wrote Guy Calvert, a product specialist and decision support analyst within AdSense Online Sales and Operations.

Ways To Recover & Negative SEO

Hello Friends...,

As we all Know that Google Penguin has Launch. Here I am Sharing some initial advice about dealing with Penguin.

  • Clean up on-page spam you know you’ve done
  • Clean up bad links you know you’re been involved with, as best you can
  • Wait for news of a future Penguin Update and see if you recover after it happens
  • If it doesn't, try further cleaning or consider starting over with a fresh site

Just in, by the way, a list of WordPress plug-ins that apparently insert hidden links. If you use some of these, and they have inserted hidden links, that could have caused a penalty.

I’d also say again, take a hard look at your own site. When I’ve looked at sites, it’s painfully easy to find bad link networks they’ve been part of. That doesn’t mean that there’s not spam that’s getting past Penguin. But complaining about what wasn’t caught isn’t a solution to improving your own situation, if you were hit.

The Importance of Blog Comments to Bloggers

Underneath most blog posts is an area for visitors to leave a comment about each post. Blog comments are a critical part of a successful blog, and area bloggers must understand and focus on to create a great blog.

The Purpose of Blog Comments

Blog comments are what make a blog interactive and social. The most popular blogs have a very interactive community who voice their opinions on posts frequently. It's that social aspect that makes blogs such a powerful component of the social web. People like to feel involved. Leaving blog comments allows readers to join in on the conversation about a topic that interests them.

The Value of Blog Comments to Bloggers

Blog comments are the lifeblood of a blog. Comments are what separate a blog from a static website. As the conversation builds, so will your relationship with your readers and so will your blog's popularity? Encourage your readers to join in the discussion and leave comments and respond promptly to the comments left by your readers to make them feel valued. Just as you don't like to be ignored when you address someone in person, you don't want to ignore your readers when they address you through a blog comment.

The Effects of Blog Comments beyond the Blog Conversation

An interesting aspect of blog comments is the fact that people who leave comments on your blog can also leave links to other blogs or websites or their own blogs to further the conversation. These links can be a great resource to help you find new blogs to read, like-minded bloggers, and new post ideas. Additionally, bloggers can leave trackbacks on your blog through blog comments when they link to your blog posts on their blogs. Trackbacks are another great way to help you build relationships with other bloggers as well as to drive new traffic to your blog from the links on those other blogs.

Ways to Improve Your Google Ranking

Google is the world's most popular search engine. Shortly after its creation, Google's popularity skyrocketed and it soon became the dominant search engine for finding information on the internet. This is why, if you own a website, you want it to be high in the Google ratings.

Google is constantly changing and evolving so you need to keep up with the changes. Their recent changes, called the Panda Update, caused many sites' rankings to drop significantly. Google's mission is to provide the highest quality information for each search done and in doing this, many sites get lost in the endless pages of search results.

To get your website increased ranking there are many things you can do and many things you should not do. I have tried to list some of the more effective things you should do and a couple things you should not do for better placement in Google.

1. Limit Your Advertising - If you have a hodgepodge or cluttering of advertising on your site, this can decrease your ranking. Google considers excess advertising to be a sign of a low-quality spam site. And remember, Google's goal is to provide the highest quality sites at the top of the search results.

2. Google Toolbar - The Google Toolbar is an important tool to have because of all the features that will help you improve your ranking. The Google toolbar can help you monitor your page rank, help you find sites to link to and help you find which sites are linked to you. You can also keep tabs on how your site is doing with targeted keywords. Get it for free at Google.com.

3. Relevant and Quality Content - One of the most important things to do for better SEO is to provide quality content with relevant keywords. Quality is always more effective than quantity so don't plaster a ton of low-quality articles on your site just to have content. Make sure the articles you choose are relevant to your site and provide helpful information. If you have some of the same articles as another site, the most relevant quality site will be higher in the rankings so the duplicate content itself, will not lower your rankings. Also, be sure to add fresh new content on a regular basis.

4. Google+1 Button - By joining Google Plus and adding a Google+1 button to your site, you can help lift your site's rankings. One of the things Google looks at the most is your site's level of importance and relevancy. The more plus ones you can get, the more importance it will give your site, thus causing Google to increase your ranking in the search results pages. This will also get your site more exposure resulting in more visits as well.

5. Become a Blogger - If you haven't already done so, you need to add a blog to your business website. Blogging is a highly efficient way to raise your ranking in Google because a blog does two things. First, it can add many pages of keyword-rich, relevant, quality content to your site which will be noticed by Google. The more quality pages indexed, the more chances you have to be on page one. And secondly, a blog can increase the amount of quality inbound links to your site.

6. Relevant Inbound Links - Quality inbound links are a great way to add relevance and importance to your site. Guest posting on high quality blogs is one of the best ways to accomplish this task. Commenting on existing blog comments works well also. Always use keyword rich posts with appropriate sites and use relevant keywords for your links. Google does not value links from article banks as much as they used to so choosing a few quality blogs is better than submitting to countless article sites.

7. Social Media - As with many facets of internet marketing, social media plays a big part in SEO. Be active on your social sites. Do not let them go stale. Engage in conversations, post new info regularly and involve your visitors.

8. Keyword Research - Keywords play an important part in SEO, but using the wrong keywords can do more harm than good. Be sure to research keywords to find what search phrases people are using to find your site's info. Google offers a keyword tool called Google Keyword Tool. This free tool will give you a list of keywords and tell you how often they are used and their competition.

9. Hidden Text - Hidden text is text displayed on your site but invisible to your visitors. A common way of doing this is to set the font color the same as the background color. The reason for doing this is to add a large number of keywords for the search engines but not make your content seem redundant to your visitors. Do not do this. Google considers this manipulation and it could get your site penalized.

10. Bad Linking - Reciprocal linking, inbound links, and outgoing links can all be good if you follow the proper procedure. Do not link with any and all sites. Be very selective and only link with sites that are relevant to your site and contain quality content. Stay away from FFA (Free For All) or link farm sites.

Check your links regularly to make sure they are not broken. Broken links will catch the attention of Google and other search engines. Linking to poor quality sites or spam sites is also something you do not want to do. Years ago quantity might have gotten you a boost but now it is all about quality links to relevant sites, NOT quantity.

Obtaining a high Google ranking is the goal of every webmaster. It can be done, but you need to be consistent, persistent and keep abreast of Google's ever evolving search methods.

What is CPC Advertising?

CPC Advertising

"Cpc advertising" is becoming quite popular in the business world, especially for businesses who have acquired a web site or links leading to their company information.

CPC stands for cost-per-click, also known as pay-per-click. "Cpc advertising can be an affordable way to draw perspective customers to your business and, if promoted correctly, can generate lots of profit for you.
So what does it take to choose and produce successful "cpc advertising" and can you do it on your own? Well, let me begin by saying that cpc advertising is something that can be created on your own behalf but, if you are not savvy with the internet, keywords, ranking, placement, and rates, then you might want to join up with a professional.

"Cpc advertising" isn't as simple as writing a few lines of text and having it published in the local newspaper or in one of those free ad booklets. It takes a lot of research, creativity, comparisons, and patience. For your cost-per-click ad to be successful it must be genuine and relative to whichever product or service your business is promoting.

CPC Advertising Research

Research consists of determining what keywords and phrases are being utilized by your competitors as well as whom they are joining forces with in order to produce productive ads. Creativity consists of building a strong list of AdWords and phrases that will allow consumers to find your business within a few clicks of the mouse as well as designing a suitable banner and lead page for your customer's connection. Comparisons need to be performed in order for you to know what prices are being charged for products or services resembling your offerings. And, most importantly, patience is needed in order to detect whether or not your "cpc advertising" is working.

This form of advertising cannot be created and put into production in a minute or two. Creating great "cpc advertising" can take weeks or months before it is considered sufficient enough to receive affordable rates and eventful enough to draw in consumers who are ready to make a purchase.

Another quality needed to gain profits from "cpc advertising" is to be open to change. There may be certain keywords or phrases that you feel you should dedicate to your products but they can cost you high cost-per-click rates. When this happens you have to be prepared to choose keywords and phrases that you, and your business, can afford. Cpc advertising can get expensive. If you have to choose between bidding high on one or two, guaranteed to place, keywords or bid lower on many pertinent keywords, choose the latter. It will be financially intelligent on your part if you have a vast list of AdWords compared to access to just a few.

What is Digital Marketing?

Digital marketing is a term that has been around for quite awhile but hasn’t been very well defined, encompassing things like banner advertising, search engine optimization (SEO) and pay per click. Yet, this is too narrow of a definition. What about email, RSS, voice broadcast, fax broadcast, blogging, podcasting, video streams, wireless text messaging, and instant messaging? You get the idea.

To clearly define what digital marketing is let’s talk about what it is not. For starters, it does not include more traditional forms of marketing such as radio, TV, billboard and print because they do not offer instant feedback and report. Sure, some people may respond to a call to action from an advertisement in one of these mediums but there is no way to know the exact number of people who saw or heard it. Such data is collected (and still then just educated guesses) long after the initial ad impression is made. Yes, convergence has made television at bit more interactive, with devices such as TiVo able to record viewer statistics like those for Web sites, but there is still a long way to go. With digital marketing, however, we’re already there.

At its heart, digital marketing centers around the Internet, which has become both a communication vehicle and a very powerful marketing medium as the recent Doubleclick acquisition by Google demonstrated. The Internet can be used both to push a message to someone like email, IM, RSS, or voice broadcast, as well to “pull” content serving a banner ad and Pay Per Click search terms. Digital marketing, therefore, can be thought of as the combination of push and pull Internet technologies to execute marketing campaigns.

Because it is digital, a reporting engine can be layered within a campaign allowing the organization see in real-time how that campaign is performing, such as what is being viewed, how often, how long, as well as other actions such as responses rates and purchases made. Please note that each digital marketing technology is different and they cannot all provide the same types of reports. Also, digital marketing is constantly evolving and new technologies are being created all of the time.

To help promote this new concept of digital marketing, we recently updated the Wikipedia entry for the term and did our best to not only define digital marketing but to explain what it is as well as the players in this space. In the true collaborative spirit of Wikipedia, we invite you to add your own thoughts and ideas, as we too are still adding and editing. Currently our definition is:

Digital Marketing is the pratice of promoting products and services using database-driven online distribution channels to reach consumers in a timely, relevant, personal and cost-effective manner.

Broadband Internet, WiFi and phone Web access are also spurring growth worldwide. A recent report showed that Web usage increased 10% from last January to this January globally. Not surprisingly, billions of marketing dollars spent on traditional channels is already starting to shift to digital marketing campaigns and this will continue to increase as the Web matures. As a marketer, I am very excited about the future and what digital marketing will look like in the years ahead. I mean, we just got to Web 2.0 so who knows what will be coming next? If you haven’t already started, you need to build a database of customers or potential customers and find out how they wish to be reached. You can do this through the digital marketing technologies I’ve mentioned in this article and then use these systems to market your products and services. Make sure you are ready to take full advantage of digital marketing and watch your revenues soar.
